Anniversary Day

A month late on this post buuuutt....
June 21st was Rachael and I's anniversary. We were already up in Seattle to visit my cousin Cat's classroom and just hang out with cousins in Seattle and stuff for a while. What I thought was going to happen on our anniversary day was that we were going to volunteer in Cat's classroom, chill at her condo, then off to dinner, then boom, done. What really happened was planned for apparently about a month without me knowing. About a month prior to that day, Rachael contacted Connor Surdi. He's one of my favorite photographers and one of the inspirations as to why I started up photography as a hobby. It was him and a whole bunch of young photographers in a sneaker forum that made me want to pick up this hobby. But anyway, Rachael emailed him about meeting up with us as my anniversary present. He said yeah and they've been texting for about a month and I didn't even know.. Rachael made up the name "Sadie Connors" on her phone as Connor's number and convinced me it was some girl we went to school with haha.
Well the night started out by us heading out to Dick's for some dinner. I thought that was the whole night. While we were eating, she was texting and had an awkward big smile on her face and looked out the window behind me. I curiously turned my head as I heard a Subaru and saw his WRX pull in and thought to myself "Holy crap it's Connor Surdi!" while at the same time Rachael jumped up and yelled "NO!" The first thing I said to her was "Did you do that...?" pointing to his car. She revealed to me the whole thing and then he came and sat down. We talked for a while about the plan, how they started talking, to life, photography, cars, and since we both just graduated, our plans after high school. After we talked, we headed out to Kerry Park. The view was amazing. He let me shoot with his 135L and I was in love with the lens. The bokeh is ridiculous with that lens. I shot a 4-shot pano of the Seattle skyline as shown in the pictures below. He taught me how to shoot some flare shots in direct sun and about "Golden Hour." It was pretty chill but there wasn't much more than the skyline at Kerry Park so we headed out to his "Peaceful View" spot to catch the sunset at Alki. There, we met Connor's friend Vince and walked down by the water. Connor had his tripod and camera set up for perfect long exposure shots of the sunset and the water. After a while, he let me use his gear by just switching CF cards so I can get some pictures in too. We took some pictures, and talked, and just chilled and after that, we parted ways. As Rachael and I were driving away in the slow, traffic-filled, single lane through Alki, we looked to our left and saw the entire Seattle skyline. It was amazing. We stopped to take more pictures then headed out. Twas an awesome day. Thanks Connor for hanging out and teaching me some new stuff. Thanks Rachael for the day. :)
