Started Nov. 28,2009. No pre-wear soak. Will soak at 6 months, wash at 12 months.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is a pair of raw denim jeans. Raw denim is unwashed, untreated, fresh off the sewing machine denim and are vulnerable to dramatic fading. Because they weren't washed at all, these pairs of jeans of raw denim have a lot of indigo in the fabric. If worn for a long time, the creases of the stiff denim lose indigo on those creases. In order to get these appealing contrasting fades, the pair of jeans must be worn continuously for a long period of time, i.e. say 6 months or so with no washes (some people actually go a year). Yes, I know what you're thinking "Ew. Six months without washing your jeans wearing them everyday!? THAT'S DISGUSTING!" I hear that all the time. But there's alternatives to a machine wash such as a soak in water, airing out, or dry cleaning. But after about 6 months or so of continuous wear the, once dark and plain, pair of raw denim, has faded molded to the body of the person wearing it, giving that person a personalized fit and fades along the creases of the jeans from wearing. I don't really know how else to explain it so HERE'S a guide to raw denim jeans.
